About your Fingerprint Specialist:
Edward McKinstry
Latent Print Examiner
Round Rock, Texas

crimeguy@verizon.net
Crime Scene Investigator with Round Rock PD

Whether the method of taking inked prints is manual or through the use of live scan, the
process of obtaining good quality prints is basically the same.  Taking a good quality
fingerprint from a known source is a skill that requires training an experience.  While anyone
with minimal training can obtain a set of ten prints it’s the experience part, knowing what is
an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) quality print is that prevents the
mistakes that cause rejections.

All though we would love to guarantee a zero return rate on fingerprint submissions due to
biological and or environmental factors, a person’s occupation and age will greatly affect the
quality of their fingerprints.  To ensure we have provided you with the best opportunity for a
successful process we employ a “Fingerprint Expert” with over 17 years of fingerprint taking
and examining experience and who is AFIS certified to prevent those delays caused by
fingerprint rejection.
